Quite a day - just spent the evening in a hot spa, being massaged by water jets, followed by dinner at an excellent though not inexpensive little izakaya. The Sapporo beer was cheap, the rare horse meat less so, but worth every yen. Met a lovely young chap called Masashi, who happens to be a first year teacher training student at Nihon Daigaku. We had a good chinwag about his exchange student trip to Cambridge, where he apparently enjoyed punting but was not too hot on the fish and chips.
There is - huzzah! - an Aikido dojo at the nearby university campus, and a very well-equipped gym. Several fellow students have expressed an interest in the former. I'm also opening my daily offices (that's morning and evening prayer) up to everyone in the apartment block. Don't know if anyone will come, but the offer's there nonetheless. If there's interest, we could start a weekly Bible study and go to Mass on Sunday together - form a little eucharistic community. Deo volente.
Tomorrow, we find the results of our streaming test. God willing, I'll be an upper intermediate, although the exam was bloody tough. Well, we'll see.
